Major Update: Introducing Real Mode and IFF Simulation
New Feature: Real Mode
The highlight of this update is the introduction of Real Mode. In this mode, all radar contacts initially appear as UNKNOWN (represented by a new yellow square symbol). To identify a track, controllers must now utilize one of these methods:
- Automatic ATO Matching: Units are identified when their assigned Air Tasking Order (ATO) IFF code matches their active transponder.
- Manual IFF Assignment: Controllers can assign a specific code to a track; once the pilot sets that code in the cockpit, the unit is identified.
- Manual Marking: Controllers can manually designate tracks as FRIENDLY or HOSTILE by setting custom labels and aircraft types.
Legacy Support & Server Integration
For those who prefer the classic experience, the original system is now called DCS Mode, which displays units exactly as they appear on the DCS F10 map. Both modes are now managed server-side, allowing server owners to toggle the desired realism level via the DCS Airspace settings.
Enhanced Transponder Logic
I’ve added deeper integration for pilot-to-controller interaction:
- IDENT Support: Added visual and audio support for the aircraft "IDENT" command.
- Emergency Squawks: Dedicated visual alerts are now active for transponder codes 7600 (Radio Failure) and 7700 (General Emergency).
Improvements & Fixes
- Symbology Update: UNKNOWN contacts now utilize a distinct yellow square for better situational awareness.
- Interface Polish: The "INFO" button is now disabled for non-friendly tracks to maintain realism.
- Stability: Various bug fixes and back-end optimizations have been implemented to improve overall system performance.
Important: Combined Ops Link Required
To enable these new features, controllers must run the new Combined Ops Link software locally. This application acts as a bridge between your AWACS/ATC display and the SRS Server, allowing the system to receive and process all IFF data sent by aircraft.
