New Intercept Cut-Off Tool for Airspace Control
Combined Ops Airspace introduces a powerful new intercept cut-off calculation feature, designed to empower GCI/AWACS controllers with superior real-time tactical decision-making.
This robust tool instantly calculates the optimal intercept heading, time-to-intercept, and the intercept point between two tracks. It intelligently adapts to various situations:
- Speed Discrepancy Handling: If your interceptor is initially too slow, the system calculates the minimum speed required to achieve the intercept, providing actionable data.
- Non-Converging Trajectories: In cases where a mathematical intercept point isn't naturally found, the tool provides a "best effort" intercept solution, setting the intercept point to the target's current position, accompanied by a clear explanation.
For an enhanced workflow, new keyboard shortcuts are now available:
- RShift (Hold) + LMouse Click: With an interceptor track selected, click on a target track to show/hide the calculated cut-off data and projected intercept line.
- Ctrl + C: Cancel all cut-off data display for the currently selected track.
- Ctrl + Shift + C: Clear all displayed cut-off data for all tracks on your scope.
This new functionality significantly enhances realism and efficiency, providing GCI/AWACS controllers with critical foresight to manage dynamic airspace situations.
