New Terrain Elevation Data from DCS World

We are excited to announce a critical update to the accuracy of our mission planning tools on Combined Ops!

The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) maps used in DCS Mission Planner and DCS AOC Tools have been upgraded. We are now directly integrating terrain elevation data from DCS World, ensuring maximum fidelity. This data has been processed to meet the standard and resolution of real-world SRTM1 (1 arc second) elevation models.

What does this mean for you?

Unprecedented Accuracy: By using DCS World's native elevation data aligned with the high resolution of SRTM1 standards, all your height references are now consistent with the simulator's environment.
Consistent Mission Planning: Your flight profile planning, altitude-based fuel calculations, and terrain briefings will now reflect the in-game terrain with guaranteed alignment to the simulator's internal data.
Immediate Support: This integration ensures maximum support for the latest and most detailed theaters, guaranteeing that your planning tools are always perfectly aligned with the simulator's updates.

For now, elevation data with this precision is available for the following theaters: Caucasus, Germany Cold War, Marianas, NTTR, Persian Gulf, Sinai, and Syria. Support for all other remaining theaters will be rolled out soon!

We are already developing new features that leverage this high-resolution data, including new implementations for flight plan generation within DCS Mission Planner.
